diGIT Project
Cologne Guitar Quartet

In the diGIT Project, the Cologne Guitar Quartet and the participating composers have dedicated themselves to new compositions for four amplified guitars and electronics. The project began in 2019 at the WERFT Festival and has since been continued with young composers from the local and international contemporary music scene. As part of the SoundLinks Festival, two world premieres will be presented: A new work by the Cologne composer Alexander Held for four electric guitars as well as a new work by the Israeli composer Tom Belkind for amplified concert guitars, electric guitars and electronics.

The diGIT program is unique because it allows a variety of guitar sounds to be experienced very intensively and also explores new possibilities of expression for this instrumentation. The composers create a very contemporary musical language using electronic playback, linguistic-vocal elements, analog and digital (guitar) effects, scenic aspects and interaction with computer programs.
